The Hayfield Middle School band program provides an enjoyable and educational experience for many students at our school. Participating in one of Hayfield's bands brings opportunities to make friends who share a common interest. Band students work hard, play hard, and stay busy in a positive and productive environment.

Band is much more than just a "fun" class. Playing a musical instrument engages a student in a number of thinking skills and is a catalyst for other learning. Research shows that participation in band tends to improve academic skills, just as academic skills improve band skills. It is little wonder that students who take performing arts classes consistently score higher on SAT tests than their peers who take no arts classes. Practicing diligently improves individual skills and also contributes to the success of the band as a whole.
Hayfield bands have a proud tradition of excellence and achievement. The success of our program lies in the determination of students, parents, and staff to play better, work better, and achieve better than before. Our band students learn that excellence lies in the pursuit of a destination that is continually moving just beyond their reach.
If you are new to our band program, we welcome you to an exciting experience. If you were in the program last year, welcome back! We hope this year will be as enjoyable as it is memorable.
